The concentrated solar power or CSP is one of the growing fields in solar power production, by the help of various CSP technologies such as parabolic trough collector, linear Fresnel reflector, solar tower and parabolic dish system the energy is been captured from the sun to produce electricity. The energy produced from this system has to be stored for future usage or using it during power cuts. There are various storage options available for the concentrated solar power to store the energy produced from the system. The locations we have taken is north western part of India which is Rajasthan and Gujarat, these places have good DNI level and best suitable for solar power production. The energy storage for the concentrated solar power has to be compared to its alternatives such as photovoltaic battery storage system and should figure it which one is best for the Indian market. For the concentrated solar power, we are taking thermal energy storage and for the photovoltaic, we are taking lithium ion battery for comparison. The case study is been done for the both energy storage options, lithium ion battery may look better for now but taking future into account the developments in thermal energy storage looks promising. So, both the battery systems are good in its own ways.
